In our modern connected world, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are standing at the forefront of innovation and as promising transformative technologies to transform different industrial sectors and reshape how we engage with technology. As we are delving in a new era where intelligence is not solely human-driven but also enhanced by the advancement of modern technologies, the study of the evolution of intelligence in the context of AI and IoT technologies is deemed essential, and this is where Next-Gen Intelligence arises. With the emergence of Next-Gen intelligence, the need of more specialized and capable systems extending beyond the traditional AI algorithms and common IoT systems is perceived as essential.

This year’s theme of the 2024 IEEE GCAIoT underscores the importance of the flexible integration of AI and IoT technologies, embodying the ethos of exploration and progress in these innovative domains. Augmented AI represents of the combination of human intelligence with machine intelligence to amplify cognitive abilities and decision-making processes. In this context, the 2024 IEEE GCAIoT encourages exploration into how AI technologies can enhance human capabilities across various domains such as healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and education. It encompasses areas like machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and robotics, where AI algorithms work in tandem with human operators to achieve better outcomes.

To leverage AI capabilities, the need for the innovations in Internet of Things (IoT) is paramount. In fact, IoT technologies changed the way of connection and communication between physical objects and enabled the creation of smart systems and environments. The latter are believed to enhance AI capabilities to drive efficiency, productivity, and sustainability across different sectors such as smarter cities, buildings, transportation networks, and industrial processes. For this, the theme of the 8th edition of the GCAIoT, focuses on discussing these recent advancements in IoT including connectivity, edge computing, data analytics, sensor technology, and cyber-physical systems, leading to the development of smarter cities, buildings, transportation networks, and industrial processes.

Against this backdrop, the IEEE Global Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things presents itself as a leading forum for researchers, practitioners and stakeholders from academia, industry and government to share their latest research contributions and exchange knowledge with the goal of shaping the future of AI, IoT and new technologies, uncovering innovative applications, addressing technical challenges, and charting the course for the next generation of intelligent systems.
